Arlene Chin’s story is one that embodies the spirit of Tempe. A proud graduate of Kyrene elementary schools, Corona del Sol High School, and Arizona State University, she brings 50+ years of firsthand experience as a Tempe resident to every decision she makes. Her deep commitment to public service reflects her dedication to representing every resident thoughtfully and effectively.
As the daughter of Tempe small business owners, Arlene grew up working at her family’s restaurant at Rural & University - bussing tables, washing dishes, and doing her homework at the corner table between tasks. Those early experiences taught her that success requires teamwork, even when opinions differ. That’s why she is committed to being as accessible as possible to every resident, focused on solving problems, and committed to delivering real results for Tempe residents that make their lives better.
Arlene Chin is Working for our Community. Her Second Term Priorities Include:
Ensure Tempe Grows Responsibly. Maintaining a high quality of life means Tempe must make strategic investments to meet the demands of continued economic growth. Arlene works hard at City Hall to strike this balance
Protect Our Communities, Care for the Vulnerable. Arlene has a clear vision for making sure Tempe is a safe but compassionate city whether it’s continuing to make smart investments to get people off Tempe’s streets and into services, leading on investments in taxpayer money-saving social support services like Care7, or by investing in public safety.
Make Tempe a Leader in Sustainability. Arlene looks to bring sustainable climate leadership to its full potential--harnessing ideas and research to drive economic growth, create local jobs, and help residents save money.
